Lesson 4 – Step 2 – Vocabulary

Goal
Let’s work with some vocabulary from the text in step 1. Listen and repeat the vocabulary as many times as you want. Try to memorise it.
Verbs

KICK – strike with the foot.
Examples – The forward kicked the ball and scored a goal.
The baby was kicking in the bath.

BITE – (of a person or animal) use the teeth to cut into or through something.
Example – “Robyn took a large bite out of her sandwich”

NODDING – move one’s head up and down repeatedly.
Example – “he looked around for support and everyone nodded”

SMELL – the power of perceiving odours or scents by means of the organs in the nose.
Example – “I think I can smell something burning”

SMILE – a pleased, kind, or amused facial expression, typically with the corners of the mouth turned up and the front teeth exposed.
Example – The baby smiled back at the mom.

TASTE – the sensation of flavour perceived in the mouth and throat on contact with a substance.
Example – the wine had a fruity taste.

WHISTLE – a clear, high-pitched sound made by forcing breath through a small hole between partly closed lips, or between one’s teeth.
Example – The audience cheered and whistled at the football players.

TOUCH – come into or be in contact with someone or something.
Example – “he leaned back so that only two legs of his chair touched the floor”
