Lesson 6 – Step 5 – Class material

Goal
It’s time for your class. Your teacher will guide you through this content so you can make the most of it. Keep this page open during your virtual lesson.
- Revision of vocabulary and grammar of this lesson.
- What film genres do you remember?
- Do you remember how to use the first conditional?
2. Discuss:
- What is your favorite film?
- What type of film is it? Thriller, action, comedy?
- Why do you like it?
- What is the cast?
- What’s the plot?
3. New films, old stories. Recently many old films are coming out in the cinemas again, for example Top gun II.
- Do you know any other sequels and prequels coming out?
- Why is it difficult to make a sequel?
- What happens if you don’t have the same actors?
- What films, in your opinion, deserve a sequel that still hasn’t been made? Why?
- If you were a producer would you prefer to make a new film or a famous sequel? Why?
4. Using the first conditional make sentences for the following scenarios.
Remember the structure
If + present simple , will + verb (inf)
if-clause will-clause
- A mother tells her son that he can have a piece of chocolate cake when he eats his meal.
- Drinking too much wine isn’t a good idea. You could have an accident while driving.
- Working too many hours makes you feel very tired.
- Spending too much time looking at the screen affects your eyesight.
5. Invert the order of the clauses from the sentences in exercise 4.
Remember In that case, we don’t use a comma:
will + verb (inf) if + present simple
Conclusion
We’ve finished the class for today. Do you want to keep practising? Brilliant! You will find some extra practice in the next step. Try to complete the exercises in the next few days.
