Lesson 16 – Step 1 – Reading

A FAMILY TRIP

 A few years ago, my family and I went on a trip to New York. To start with we arrived at the airport with everything ready to go. But our flight was delayed which meant we had to wait a few hours. Finally our plane left,  my first transatlantic flight. After 8 hours of a long flight, we arrived at the J.F.K airport.

All of us were feeling nervous about the trip. When we went to pick our luggage, no suitcases arrived. Dad started to get nervous, all our clothes and personal things were not here. I was beginning to wonder how the rest of the trip would go. The next day, all of us had to go to the airport to see what had happened to our suitcases. They told us that our luggage was shipped  on another flight and that it would take a few days until we would get our suitcases back. All of a sudden we all felt very sad.

But mum was not going to allow this to upset our family holidays. The following day we went to a big Mall, bought some clothes and went off to visit the city that never sleeps. We started visiting skyscrapers with incredible views of the city and enjoying some fast food, like Hot-dogs and Burgers; Now we were having a great time. On our final days we did some bike riding in central park, this place was enormous.

Finally after a week in the city our things arrived. But we were no longer worried: we were having a great time. This was for sure one of the best family trips we had all had. And although we had some inconveniences we still managed to enjoy the trip. This trip taught us not to worry too much when things go wrong.
