Lesson 10 – Step 1 – Reading

Goal
Let’s start the lesson with some reading. You can read it on your own or play the audio and follow along.
Once you have finished, you can go to the next step.
Something you need to know
“I’m so sorry for not calling in such a long time… There is still something I need to tell you” she told me as soon as I opened the door. She looked different. Changed. She looked happy again. We hadn’t seen each other in over a year. No calls, no texts… Nothing.
We met when we were two young girls, we did everything together, we went everywhere together. And here we were, twenty years later looking at each other like strangers. I didn’t really remember when we started arguing. She moved to New York to go to university. I had no problem with that, we were still best friends, and we met very often to chat. We always talked about nothing and everything at the same time. We used to talk so loud that everybody stared at us.
I don’t know when, but at some point the conversations started to revolve around family. She was adopted and she wanted to find her blood relatives. I supported her, they had to be somewhere…
But we couldn’t find them anywhere. No one knew about them, and there was nowhere else to look. It was driving her crazy. I asked her to stop. She didn’t need anyone else in her life. She had me, I was like her sister. But she continued to search and she finally moved to Europe. Now she was back for the first time.
I’ve found them…” she said in between tears. “I’ve found our parents!”
