Lesson 2 – Step 1 – Reading

Goal

Let’s start the lesson with some reading. You can read it on your own or play the audio and follow along. Once you have finished, you can go to the next step.

A nice small company.

Jane: A company photo, What a good Idea! Now I can put a face on each one of your workmates, I am so curious about each one of them…

Matthew: What do you want to know?

Jane: OK , let me see… the one that is wearing a modern, blue tie and a sophisticated, leather jacket, what  does he do? What is his story?

Matthew: Nelson? He is a nice bloke! He leads the commercial team. He motivates the sellers. I like him. He is polite, but very active and motivating. We play tennis together on Saturdays.

Jane: Oh, yes… I remember Nelson from tennis… What about the beautiful, slim girl who is standing next to him?  Does she work in your department too?

Matthew: That’s Patricia. I think she’s working on the second floor now. She is hardworking, but quite shy, so I can’t tell you much about her. She doesn’t come to our department very often. 

Jane: Oh, she and Nelson look like there’s something going on with them…

Matthew: There is… They are going out, but they are keeping it a secret for now, so don’t say anything to anyone!

Jane: My lips are sealed. Now tell me about that short, old man at the front, who is he?

Matthew: Ah! That’s Max. He is spending his last year before retiring in our department. Right now he is finishing our marketing project. He is the best. Nobody knows the company like him.  He’s a clever, old man.

Jane: Wow! I guess you are going to miss him when he retires!

Matthew: I most certainly will…
