Lesson 4 – Step 1 – Reading

Goal
Let’s start the lesson with some reading, but slightly different today: You are going to listen to some situations and match the audio with the texts.
Once you have finished, you can go to the next step.
Life’s Awkward Situations
1. Ron was having a shower, enjoying the hot water and listening to a song. He was singing when the telephone rang. He turned off the tap, and tried to grab his phone. He slipped and almost fell on the floor because his feet were wet. He was getting out of the shower when the phone stopped ringing.
2. Nathalie and Jack are friends from university. From time to time Jack invites Nathalie for dinner to talk. Last Friday, they were having dinner when Jack proposed. Nathalie didn’t know how to react; she certainly didn’t expect it.
3. Jane and Matthew were having a row about their household chores when Jane’s mother knocked on the door.
Reflection
- What do the phrases in blue have in common?
- What do the phrases in green have in common?
- What is the word in red used for?
The answers are in step 3.
Conclusión
Have you finished? Then you can move on to step 2.
