The Thompsons
Detective: Tell me, where were you last night at 11 p.m.?
Martha: Well… I was sleeping at home, of course!
Detective: Did you hear any strange noise?
Witness: A loud noise woke me up, yes. But I didn’t get up.
Detective: Were you sleeping last night at 11 p.m.?
John: No, I wasn’t sleeping; I was working. Elizabeth was reading a book in the kitchen and she asked for some wine. When I brought the wine she wasn’t there. I think she went to sleep.
Detective: Did you hear any strange noise?
John: No, not at all.
Detective: What were you doing last night at 11 p.m.?
Elizabeth: I was reading a book in the kitchen.
Detective: Was anyone else with you?
Elizabeth: Yes, John was there. I asked him for some wine, but he never brought it to me. Then I heard a loud noise! I thought the dogs were chasing the cat. But now I think it was John! I think he killed my husband!
